Composition and pharmacological properties.
1.0 ml of the drug contains 1 mg (0.1%) of chlorhexidine bigluconate and excipients: purified water, sodium laureth sulfate, coco-glycoside, diethanolamide of coconut oil fatty acids, glycerin, sodium chloride.
Chlorhexidine bigluconate, which is part of the drug, is a dichlorinated derivative of biguanide. It has an antiseptic (antimicrobial, antifungal and virucidal) effect, is active against Gram-negative and Gram-positive aerobic and anaerobic bacteria (Klebsiella spp., Salmonella spp., Escherichia coli, Proteus spp., Staphylococcus spp. (incl. Staphylococcus aureus MRSA), Streptococcus spp., Micrococcus spp., Bacillus spp., Corynebacterium pyogenes, Campylobacter fetus, Enterobacter spp., Chlamydia spp., Ureaplasma spp., Pseudomonas spp.), protozoa (Trichomonas foetus), fungi of the genus Microsporum, Trichophyton, Epidermophyton and yeast-like fungi of the genera Candida and Malassezia, lipophilic viruses (influenza, rotaviruses, enteroviruses).
The mechanism of action of chlorhexidine is to interact with phosphate groups on the surface of the microbial cell, while the lipophilic groups of the drug contribute to the disaggregation of the lipoprotein membrane of bacteria, thereby disrupting the osmotic balance of bacterial cells, the release of potassium and phosphorus from them, which leads to the death of the microorganism. The effectiveness of chlorhexidine in the presence of blood and pus, various secretions and organic substances has been clinically proven.
The use of the drug promotes rapid cleansing of wounds, stimulates the healing of damaged tissues, activates metabolic processes in the hair follicles and the skin, restores the protective functions of the epidermis, eliminates dryness and peeling of the skin, prevents the formation of dandruff, detangles and prevents tangling of the hair, helps to remove the products of inflammation, microorganisms and allergens from the skin and fur of the animal, eliminate the cause of the unpleasant smell of leather and wool.
