Ovostop spot-on drops

Chemical composition and pharmacological properties

1 ml of Ovostop contains 11.0 mg of megestrol acetate, proroxan - 11.0 mg and melatonin - 110.0 mg as active ingredients. 1 ml of Ovostop-K contains 11.0 mg of cyproterone acetate, proroxan - 16.5 mg and melatonin - 110.0 mg as active ingredients.
Megestrol acetate effects on hypotalamo-pituitary system and blocks anterior pituitary gonadotrope secretion.
Cyproterone acetate effects on hypotalamo-pituitary system, blocks anterior pituitary gonadotrope secretion and decreases endogenous androgen synthesis.
Proroxan blocks postsynaptic α1- and presynaptic α2-adrenoreceptors.
Melatonin is a synthetic analogue of pineal hormone.
Simultaneous exposure on animal organism blocks processes related to estrus in female dogs and cats and sexual excitement in male ones.

Indications

Use Ovostop for contraception and sexual behaviour correction in female cats and dogs.
Use Ovostop-K to decrease sexual activity and adverse behaviour correction in male cats and dogs.

Contraindications

Do not use Ovostop in immature, pregnant and lactating animals.
Do not use Ovostop-K in female cats and dogs, as well as in immature animals.
These drugs are contraindicated in genital system diseases, breast tumors, diabetes, hormonal disorders, allergic diseases, lymphoma, autoimmune diseases, lymphogranulomatosis, leukosis, myeloma, epilepsy and chronic renal impairment.

Administration

Administer Ovostop in a single dose (1 ml per a female cat regardless of body weight) in the evening; perform spot-on application on dry intact skin in the region of back (between scapulae) or neck (near the skull base). Female dogs are administered in listed doses depending on body weight.

In the absence of effect, repeat drug administration in the same dose within 24 hours.

Administration effect in female cats is longer (up to 4-6 months) in short daylight and young animals. In long daylight effect lasts within 2-3 months. Due to longer canine sexual cycle, single drug administration detains ovulation up to 6 months.

Adverse events

Ovostop overdose may cause abnormal changes in tissue of uterus and ovaries, slight body weight increase, appetite growth, apathy, mild macromastia.

Ovostop-K overdose may cause slight body weight increase, appetite growth, apathy.

Special warnings

Do not wash and bathe an animal within 48 hours before and after processing. Do not apply the drug on wet or damaged skin.

Storage

Store in closed original package. Protect from light and moisture. Store separately from food and animal feeding at 20-25°С.

Ovostop is manufactured in single use polymeric dropper pipettes; 2 dropper pipettes by 1 ml for dogs (<5 kg); 2 dropper pipettes by 2 ml for dogs (5-15 kg); 2 dropper pipettes by 1 ml for cats.

Ovostop-K is manufactured in single use polymeric dropper pipettes; 2 dropper pipettes by 1 ml for dogs (<5 kg); 2 dropper pipettes by 2 ml for dogs (5-15 kg); 2 dropper pipettes by 1 ml for cats.
