  • A wide range of antibacterial and antimycoplasmic effects
  • Action on bacteria with intracellular localization in the body
  • It is thermally stable in the composition of feed, the production technology of which includes heat treatment

Chemical composition and pharmacological properties

Thiamulin 80% contains in 1 g, as the active ingredient of thiamulin, hydrogen fumarate - 800 mg, respectively, and lactose and hydroxypropylmethylcellulose as excipients.

Thiamulin hydrogen fumarate, which is part of the drug, is a semi-synthetic antibiotic of the pleuromutin group and has a wide spectrum of action against mycoplasmas, including Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, M hyorhinis, M hyosynoviae, M synoviae, M gallisepticum, M meleagridis; gram-positive and some gram-negative bacteria, including Actinobacillus spp., Bacteroides spp., Campylobacter spp., Clostridium spp., Corynebacterium spp., E. coli, Enterococcus cecorum, Erysipelothrix spp., Fusobacterium spp., Haemophilus spp., Klebsiella pneumoniae, Leptospira spp., Listeria spp., Pasteurella spp., Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Treponema hyodesenteriae, Lawsonia intracellularis, and brachispira (Vgashuspiga hyodysenteriae, Brachyspira innocens, Brachyspira. pilosicoli, Brachyspira suis); does not act on microorganisms of the Enterobacteriaceae family (Salmonella spp. and Escherichia coli).
The mechanism of bacteriostatic action of thiamulin is a violation of microbial cell protein synthesis (including intracellular localization in the body) at the ribosomal level, which leads to suppression of the growth and development of microorganisms.

After oral administration of the drug, thiamulin is rapidly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract of animals and penetrates into many organs and tissues, where it reaches maximum concentrations in 0.9-1.0 hours after administration. Thiamulin is metabolized to inactive metabolites and is excreted from the body mainly with feces and urine.

Indications

Thiamulin 80% is prescribed for therapeutic and prophylactic purposes to pigs with gastrointestinal and respiratory diseases of bacterial etiology, including dysentery, enzootic pneumonia, pleuropneumonia, proliferative enteropathy (ileitis), colitis and other infections whose pathogens are sensitive to thiamulin.

Contraindications

A contraindication to the use of the drug Tiamulin 80% is an increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug. The drug should not be used in pigs with severe impaired liver and kidney function.

The possibility of using the drug Tiamulin 80% to pregnant and lactating sows is determined by the attending veterinarian if the expected benefit of using the drug exceeds the potential harm to the fetus.

Dosage and administration

Thiamulin 80% is used in a mixture with feed, individually or in a group way. Thiamulin 80% is mixed with the daily norm of feed consumed by pigs. Thiamulin is 80% thermally stable, which makes it possible to introduce the drug into the composition of feed, the production technology of which includes heat treatment.
