Chemical composition and pharmacological properties
1 g of powder contains ciprofloxacin - 100 mg and tiamulin hydrogen fumarate - 450 mg as active ingredients.Ciprovet-pulmo is a combined antibacterial drug.
Ciprofloxacin is a fluroquinolone antibiotic with broad-spectrum antibacterial and antimycoplasmal properties. It is active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria (including Echerichia coli, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Klebsiella spp., Enterobacter spp., Proteus spp., Yersinia spp., Haemophilus spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Pasteurella multocida, Plesiomonas shigelloides, Campylobacter jejuni, Brucella spp., Chlamydia trachomatis, Listeria monocytogenes, Mycobacterium spp., Corynebacterium diphtheriase, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus spp. and Mycoplasma spp.).
Tiamulin hydrogen fumarate (a pleuromutilin antibiotic) provides bacteriostatic effect on mycoplasma (including М. hyopneumoniae, M. hyosynoviae, M. hyorhinis, M. gallisepticum, M. synoviae, M. meleagridis), Spirochaeta (B. huodysenteriae, B. pilosicoli), gram-positive aerobes (including Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Corynebacterium pyogenes) and anaerobes (Clostridiym perfringens), gram-negative anaerobes (including Lawsonia intracellularis, Bacteroides spp., Fusobacterium spp.) and aerobes (Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella multocida).
Ciprofloxacin obtains peak serum concentration in 1.5-2 hours. Therapeutic concentration remains within 24 hours.
Tiamulin hydrogen fumarate rapidly absorbs in gastrointestinal tract and penetrates in most of organs and tissues obtaining peak concentration in pigs and poultry in 3 hours. It remains at therapeutic level within 18-24 hours.
