Iversan solution for oral use
- Antiparasitic drug which is active not only against worms, but insects and ticks parasitizing animals.
- Monodrug for combined therapy.
- Convenient method of administration.
Chemical composition and pharmacological properties100 ml of Iversan contain ivermectin - 4 mg (as an active ingredient) and excipients.
Iversan is a macrocyclic lactone antiparasitic drug.
Ivermectin (a component of the drug) is active against larval and mature development phases of gastrointestinal and pulmonary roundworms, fleas, sucking lice, lice, biting lice, louse flies, sarcoptic and mole ticks parasitizing pigs, poultry, fur animals and dogs.
Mechanism of ivermectin action involves influence on chloride ions current level through membranes of nervous and muscle cells of a parasite. Primary targets are glutamate-gated chloride channels and GABA receptors. Change in chloride ions current level damages neural impulse conduction resulting in paralysis and death of parasites. Ivermectin well absorbs in gastrointestinal tract with further penetration in organs and tissues obtaining peak blood concentration in 4-6 hours (pigs and carnivorous animals) or 1 hour (poultry) after oral administration. This active ingredient is mainly excreted unchanged in feces and partially in urine. Also it is excreted in milk of lactating animals.
IndicationsUse Iversan to treat and prevent nematodosis and arachnoentomosis in pigs, poultry (hens, geese, ducks and turkeys), dogs and fur animals.
ContraindicationsIndividual increased sensitivity to Iversan components and other drugs containing avermectins. Do not use in contagious and debilitated animals, pregnant females, as well as in dogs and fur animals under 2 months old. Do not use in laying hens, henny replacements (less than 14 days before egg-laying starts) due to ivermectin accumulation in eggs.
Iversan administration in Collies, Bobtails and Shetland sheepdogs must be performed under attending veterinarian's control due to increased sensitivity of these breeds to macrocyclic lactones.
Do not use in combination with other drugs containing macrocyclic lactones.
