Chemical composition and pharmacological properties

Emycidin capsules in one gelatin capsule contains 15 or 50 mg of ethylmethylhydroxypyridine succinate.

Emycidin refers to a group of antioxidant and antihypoxic drugs. The active ingredient of the drug – ethylmethylhydroxypyridine succinate is an inhibitor of free radical processes in the body, has pronounced antioxidant, antihypoxic and membrane-protective properties, has a therapeutic and preventive effect in hypoxia of various etiologies.

The mechanism of action is the ability of the drug to reduce the processes of lipid peroxidation in cell membranes, bind free radicals in the body, influence energy metabolism, increase the degree of cell energization, and increase the body's resistance to oxygen deficiency. After parenteral administration, the drug is rapidly distributed in the organs and tissues of the animal. It is excreted from the body mainly in the urine in the form of metabolites and in a small amount in unchanged form.
