Chemical composition and pharmacological properties

1 g of Devastin contains 15 mg of povidone iodine as an active ingredient.
It is an antiparasitic drug for external use.
Povidone iodine (a component of the drug) has antiparasitic effect on protozoans and monogeneans localized on body surface and branchiae (including Chilodonella, Trichodina, Dactylogyrus, Gyrodactylus and other fish ectoparasites susceptible to the active ingredient).
Mechanism of Devastin action is related to slow release of atom iodine and iodides (ions interacting with protein amino groups and forming iodamines as a result) from povidone iodine. Consequently, proteins lose their functions causing death of parasites.

Indications

Use for antiparasitic fish processing with the drug solution.

Contraindications

Do not use in combination with other drugs and water conditioners.

Dosage and administration

Transfer water into fish-breeding transport tanks (raceways, pools, live fish transportation vessels), stir and add 2 g/l of Devastin (2 kg/cubic meter of water). Transfer fish into obtained solution and keep within for 0.5 hours. Due to technological needs, exposure can be increased to 3 hours. During vernal-autumnal routine performance use Devastin at water temperature > 4°С.

Special warnings

Fish-breeding production can be used without restrictions after the drug administration as per this package insert.

Adverse events

Overdose: potential balance disorder and change of normal body colouration. In this case transfer fish into pure water.

Storage

Store in closed original package. Protect from light and moisture. Store separately from food and animal feeding at 5-25°С and RH ≤ 60%. Shelf life is 3 years from manufacturing date.
