Chemical composition and pharmacological properties
The drug contains 0.45% ciprofloxacin hydrochloride as an active ingredient.
It has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, promotes broad-spectrum antimicrobial effect. It is highly effective against most gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria including chlamidia, mycoplasma, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and strains resistant to methicillin and gentamicin.
When locally administered, ciprofloxacin well penetrates in cornea and eye anterior chamber, especially in corneal epithelial layer impairment.
Indications
Treatment of acute and chronic conjunctivitis, keratoconjunctivitis, keratitis, corneal ulcers, septic iridocyclitis, blepharitis.
Prevention of infectious diseases after traumas and contact with foreign matters. The drug is also used in ophtalmological surgery during presurgical and postsurgical periods.
Contraindications
Increased individual sensitivity to fluroquinolones. Do not use in kittens and puppies under 7 days old. Carefully use Ciprovet eye drops in animals with cerebral atherosclerosis and cerebral circulation disorder.
Dosage and administration
Instill Ciprovet eye drops in conjunctival cavity of affected eye (by 1 drop in cats and 1-2 drops in dogs) for 4 times a day within 7-14 days till animal clinical recovery. In case of excess purulent or mucosal purulent strip, instill 3-4 drops, then accurately remove all the strip and crustings with a gauze tampon. After that instill 1-2 drops of the drug and perform a treatment.
Adverse events
Adverse events and complications are not observed in case of administration as per package insert. Rarely drug administration may cause mild conjunctival painfullness and hyperemia, itch and lacrimation which disappear in 5 minutes.
Storage
Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children and animals. Store separately from food and animal feeding at 5-25°С. Shelf life is 3 years from manufacturing date and 30 days after bottle opening.
