Composition and pharmacological properties.

1 ml of Aquaphlox AVZ oral solution contains levofloxacin (hemihydrate) - 150 mg and colistin sulfate - 2 mln IU as active ingredients. And hydrochloric acid and purified water as excipients.

Levofloxacin, which is a component of the drug, is a synthetic antibiotic from the group of fluoroquinolones. The mechanism of action of levofloxacin is based on the block of DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV, affecting superspiralization and crosslinking of deoxyribonucleic acid breaks, inhibition of deoxyribonucleic acid synthesis, deep metabolic changes in the cytoplasm, cell wall and membranes.

Levofloxacin is rapidly and almost completely absorbed after oral administration. The intake of feed has little effect on the rate and completeness of absorption. The bioavailability of levofloxacin after oral administration is 99%, time to maximum serum concentration is 2 hours post-dose, and the half-life is about 7 hours. Levofloxacin penetrates into organs and tissues, including: lungs, bronchial mucosa, sputum, genitourinary organs, polymorphonuclear leukocytes, alveolar macrophages. After oral administration, it is excreted mainly in urine unchanged within 48 hours and, and in small amount with feces within 72 hours. In liver and kidney dysfunction, elimination period may increase.

Colistin sulfate is a compound of the polymyxin group of polypeptide antibiotics. The mechanism of bactericidal action of colistin is based on its binding with bacterial lipoproteins and violation of the permeability of the cell wall, which leads to the loss of amino acids, inorganic ions, purines, pyrimidines by the bacterial cell and causes its death.

After oral administration colistin sulfate is virtually not absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and is not exposed to digestive enzymes, as a result, a high concentration of the antibiotic is reached in the intestines; it does not accumulate in organs and tissues, and is excreted mainly unchanged with feces.
