Chemical composition and pharmacological properties

1 ml of Ketoquin 1% contains ketoprofen - 10 mg (as an active ingredient) and excipients.
Ketoquin is nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug.
Ketoprofen (propionic acid based compound) provides anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effect and inhibits thrombocytic aggregation. Mechanism of ketoprofen action is based on prostaglandin synthesis inhibition due to effect on cyclooxygenase and lypooxygenase components of arachidonic acid metabolism. It also stabilizes lysosomal membranes. It causes neutrophil activity inhibition in animals with arthritis.

Indications

Use Ketoquin 1% as anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic drug in dogs and cats with acute and chronic diseases of locomotor apparatus (arthrosis, arthritis, dislocations, tendovaginitis, traumas), pain syndrome (traumatical and postsurgical pain, torminas) and various hyperthermias.

Contraindications

Individual increased sensitivity to the drug components, peptic ulcer, hemorrhagic syndrome, frank renal and hepatic failures. Do not use in combination with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, glucocorticoids, anticoagulants, diuretics and mix with other drugs in the same syringe.

Dosage and administration

Administer Ketoquin 1% subcutaneously, intramusculary, intravenously (in dogs) or only subcutaneously (in cats) in dose of 0.2 ml per 1 kg of body weight within 1-3 days.
Duration of treatment course depends on animal status and is defined by an attending veterinarian.

Adverse events

Due to overdose, vomiting, black stool, respiratory depression or convulsions may be observed. Several animals may suffer from gastric mucosal irritation and vomiting after drug administration. Usually symptoms naturally disappear without additional drug administration. In case of increased individual sensitivity and allergic reactions, stop using the drug and administer antihistaminic and symptomatic drugs.

Storage

Store in closed original package at 5-25°С. Protect from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children and animals.
Shelf life is 2 years from manufacturing date; use the drug within 7 days after the first bottle opening.
