Chemical composition and pharmacological properties
1 g of DOXY AVZ 500 contains 500 mg of doxycycline as an active ingredient, and lactose and tartaric acid as excipients.
DOXY AVZ 500 belongs to the tetracyclines pharmacotherapeutic group.
Doxycycline in the composition of the drug is a semi-synthetic antibiotic of the tetracycline group. It is active against many gram-positive (Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Actinomyces spp., Clostridium spp., Bacillus anthracis, Corynebacterium spp., Erysipelotrix spp., Listeria spp.) and gram-negative species (Haemophilus spp., Pasteurella spp., Bordetella spp., Bartonella spp., Actinobacillus pleuropnevmoniae, Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Campylobacter spp.), as well as mycoplasmas (M. synoviae, M.hyopneumoniae, M. hyorhinis, M.hyosynoviae), spirochaete, Chlamydia spp., Rickettsia spp.
The mechanism of bacteriostatic action of doxycycline is due to the inhibition of the activity of enzymes that catalyze the binding of aminoacetyl-RNA to ribosomal membrane acceptors thereby disrupting protein synthesis and inducing microbial cell death.
After oral administration, the antibiotic is well absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and is distributed into most organs and tissues of the animal, time to maximum serum concentrations is 2 to 4 hours. Doxycycline is metabolized to a small extent, and is excreted from the body mainly with bile and urine.
According to the extent of exposure, DOXY AVZ 500 refers to low-hazardous substances (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007). It is well tolerated by animals when used in recommended doses and does not have embryotoxic and teratogenic properties.
