Chemical composition and pharmacological properties
1 ml of Ceftisyl Hydro contains ceftiofur hydrochloride - 50 mg (as an active ingredient) and excipients.It is a third generation cephalosporin antibacterial drug.
Ceftiofur hydrochloride (a component of the drug) has broad-spectrum antibacterial effect on gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria (such as Pasteurella spp., Haemophilus spp., Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Fusobacterium necrophorum, Arcanobacterium pyogenes including beta-lactamase producing strains).
Peak blood concentration of ceftiofur and its metabolites is obtained within 0.5-2 hours after administration. It remains at therapeutic level for at least 24 hours. The antibiotic is mainly excreted in urine (>55%) and partially in feces. Depending on type, age and method of administration, elimination half-life is 10-19 hours.
Indications
Use Ceftisyl Hydro to treat cattle and pigs with respiratory diseases, interdigital necrobacillosis, acute puerperal endometritis and other primary and secondary bacterial infections, agents of which are susceptible to ceftiofur.Contraindications
Increased individual sensitivity to beta-lactame antibiotics.Do not use in combination with tetracyclines and levomycetin (due to decrease in drug bactericidal activity), aminoglycosides, furosemide and ethacrynic acid (due to potential increase in nephrotoxic effect).
Administration
Parenteral administration once a day. Doses are listed below:• pigs - intramusculary, 1 ml per 16 kg of body weight (3 mg of ceftiofur per 1 kg of body weight) within 3-5 days;
• cattle - subcutaneously or intramusculary, 1 ml per 50 kg of body weight (1 mg of ceftiofur per 1 kg of body weight) within 3-5 days (respiratory diseases), 3 days (acute interdigital necrobacillosis) or 5 days (acute puerperal endometritis within first 10 days after delivery).
•Before every use carefully shake a bottle with the drug.
Waiting period
Cattle and pigs are allowed to be slaughtered for meat not earlier than 8 and 5 days, respectively, after the last drug administration. Milk of milking cows received during drug administration period is esculent without restriction.Adverse events
Overdose: potential dysorexia and inflammation of injection site.Storage
Store in closed original package at 2-30°С. Protect from direct sunlight and moisture.Shelf life is 2 years from manufacturing date and 28 days from the first bottle opening.
