Composition and pharmacological properties.

Cardanon contains in 1 ml as an active substance 125 mg of sodium 10-methylenecarboxylate-9-acridone( camedone), as well as excipients: trilon B, tris-(oxymethyl)- aminomethane, hydrochloric acid (to correct the pH to 7.8-8.6) and water for injection.

Cardanon-sodium 10-methylene carboxylate-9-acridone (camedon), which is part of the drug, stimulates the production of endogenous interferon, has a pronounced antiviral effect on RNA and DNA genomic viruses, including the canine distemper virus. Comedone is an inducer of the synthesis and secretion of tumor necrosis factor, increases the functional activity of T - and B-lymphocytes, thus preventing the development of the infectious process.

Indications for use.

Cardanon is used for therapeutic purposes in complex therapy for canine distemper.

Contraindications

Contraindications to use are increased individual sensitivity of the animal to the components of the drug, as well as insufficient renal function. Contraindications and features of the use of the drug in females during pregnancy and lactation have not been established.

Dosage and administration procedure.

For sick dogs under one year of age, the drug is administered intramuscularly once a day at a dose of 20 mg of active substance per kg of animal weight (0.15 ml / kg); for dogs older than one year – at a dose of 15 mg of active substance per kg of animal weight (0.12 ml/kg) once a day for 5-7 days. In severe cases, the course of treatment can be extended up to 10 days.

You should avoid skipping the next dose of the drug, as this can lead to a decrease in therapeutic effectiveness. In case of skipping one dose, the use of the drug is resumed at the same dose and according to the same scheme.

Side effects.

Side effects and complications when using Cardanon in accordance with this instruction, as a rule, are not observed. With increased individual sensitivity of the animal to the active components of the drug and the appearance of an allergic reaction, the use of the drug is discontinued and antihistamines and symptomatic agents are prescribed.

Storage.

The shelf life of the drug, subject to storage conditions, is 2 years from the date of production. Cardanon it is stored in a closed packaging of the manufacturer in a place protected from direct sunlight, separate from food and feed, at a temperature of 0°C to 25°C.
